Diy motion control
meet graham the robot!
Dragonframe MoCo
I have been using Graham the robot for a couple of years now. He is a home-built six-axis motion control rig for use with Dragonframe.
I chose to use C-Beam for the rail as it’s off the shelf and economical.
The controller is an Arduino mega and I will sometimes use a separate Arduino mini for the focus control.
I have been building moco rigs for quite a few years now for stop-motion jobs. I tend to arrive on set with a kit of ‘components” such as rails, motors and belts etc. I am then able to build on the fly during the course of a shoot. making a new moco rig for each shoot as needed.
